, Thursday at 10:08 amThis year take a break from the hectic holidays with free family tours and holiday activities at the?Frank Lloyd Wright Home and Studio in Oak Park.?Family Fun Days?is by kids and for kids in so many ways.
Junior interpreters, trained by the Frank Lloyd Wright Preservation Trust, will guide families through the home during the 30-minute tours. In each room, the fifth-through-10th-grade docents will tell stories about how the Wright family celebrated the winter holidays at the turn of the last century. In addition, Froebel blocks ? the same toys Wright played with as a child to learn about shapes and design ? will be in the architect?s Drafting Room for children to enjoy.
During the Victorian Christmas celebration, the entire home will be decorated as it was when the Wright family lived in the home during the late 1800s and early 1900s. A 12-foot Christmas tree, decorated with traditional ornaments, will be set up in the Home and Studio playroom.
Free hot chocolate will be served outside in the Home and Studio courtyard. Children under 8 must be accompanied by an adult.?The free event will take place 9-11 a.m., Saturdays, December 8 and 15 at the Frank Lloyd Wright Home and Studio, 951 Chicago Ave., Oak Park.
